Thing 7: I already had a Facebook account, so I didn't need to set one up. As I recall, setting it up was rather confusing.
Thing 8: I did have a short IM chat with whoever was at the Reference Desk at the time. It was fun, and I was impressed by its speed.

Week 3 recap
Thing 5: Set up my Bloglines account, so I'd have an aggregator.
Thing 6: I added LOTS of RSS feeds to my Bloglines account, mostly from National Public Radio. The class was very helpful there.

Week 2 recap
Thing 3: I created my blog, which was easier than I expected. I also customized it a little bit, played with background and text colors.
Thing 4: And I registered it with Walter!

Week 1: recap
Thing 1: Read the blog. Done! Loved the monk video.
Thing 2: Watched the Web 2.0 video on 7 1/2 habits of lifelong learners. The one I have the most trouble with is playing.

Week 4: Not my favorite! Not by a longshot!
What we had heeyah wuz a failya to communicate! I got stuck in week 4 for two long weeks because of a misunderstanding. Facebook wasn't a problem; I already had an account. But I quickly got stuck in the Instant Messaging Morass. Everyone was talking at once at the "Catch-up" class, and I thought I heard that we had to establish multiple IM accounts, specifically, all the ones that were hotlinked on the Catch-23 wiki. Unfortunately, I had problems with all of the ones I tried, and got more and more frustrated by all the time this was eating up in my workday. So I abandoned it for a while. After another frustrating session today, I learned belatedly that all we REALLY had to do was to participate in an IM chat session with the reference librarian. Done! Now I can finally advance to week 5.
Today's lesson: Stop cursing the darkness, and just ask the Catch-23 team for clarification.

Week 3
Well, I have a Bloglines account and have added many RSS feeds to it, thanks to help from Walter, Cari et al on Monday.
Since then I have tried to recreate what they were doing, but although a couple of RSS feeds claim they subscribed me, they're not appearing on Bloglines (at least anywhere I can see them), and I don't know where they went. So obviously I'm missing a step somewhere.
This stuff is like Algebra; it kind of makes sense at the time, but retaining it for future use can be a problem.
